Profile

From an early age I have been captivated and motivated by design. Why objects are shaped and structured in different ways but all have a common goal. To meet the demands of te end user in the most simplistic yet efficient way possible.

I’ve carried this same appreciation into the world of website design and development. At the age of 15 I started building my first website. Albeit a very basic attempt but I soon found myself learning snippets of HTML to add more content to a somewhat limited Angelfire webiste. Soon after this I was adding pieces of CSS to improve the look and feel of my efforts and began learning Javascript to introduce client-side form validation among other things.

In June 2007 I graduated from the University of Ulster with BSc Interactive Multimedia Design. I found this 4 year course really beneficial as it not only helped fill the gaps in the areas of web design I had learned in my free time but it also gave me the chance to start putting that knowledge into practice in a commercial environment.

I spent 2 years working mainly in print design at Balmoral Furniture in Dunmurry. This involved designing company brochures and promotional material alongside the upkeep of the company website. I learned quite a lot in this time about desktop publishing and quickly became adept at using Adobe InDesign.

I decided to move onwards to a more web orientated job at Worldsites (currently rebranding as Redback Creations) in March 2008. This gave me the chance to gain a wealth of commercial experience. I have been mainly creating concept artwork for new web projects and building valid XHTML and CSS sites to accurately match the approved concepts.
